St 1890, c 428 enabled municipal officials or directors of railroad companies in Massachusetts to petition the Superior Court to abolish or alter railroad grade crossings; a court-appointed commission then made a decision to be confirmed by the court. John Hull (1624-1683) was a colonial merchant, public servant, mintmaster, and silversmith. He came to America from England as a child, established himself in Boston, and became a wealthy and influential leader in the Massachusetts colony.
